Shrine Work Continued!

I posted a few days ago with some crappy photos of the shrine i’m working on.  Since those photos, I have built a base and adhered the main piece to it.  I have also been experimenting with “dying” my candle wax by putting crayon shaving in the hot wax while the candle is burning.  It’s pretty neat because it really allows me to control the color of the wax that I pour.  In the beginning, the wax was extremely white.  After some talking with my professor, we decided it would be best to start adding some variations to the color of the wax.  This piece is still unfinished.  I want to add at least another inch of wax as well as a few other minor adjustments.  This will be one of the pieces in my senior show happening on April 20th!

Thanks to Paul for taking the photos!

Todays nude painting!
Is it weird that I have daily nude paintings?  Oh well.

The Holiday Sale is happening at ECU starting THIS Thursday.  I’m going to have lots of little things for sale including earrings, hair pieces, hand painted ornaments, large paintings and mini paintings!  I took a few pictures of some of the mini paintings I’ll have for sale!  These are all 4in. x 4in. I have a ton of old photographs and am using them in some of the fun stuff (copies of the old photographs).  These are all really simple pieces and I’m going to sell them SUPER CHEAP…like, 5 bucks each!  Hope you don’t hate them.  If you do, don’t tell me.  I will cry.

:-)

Paintings this month!  I’m working on a series of 4 old photos all of the same family.  Just trying to experiment with painting the photos while still washing them out like memories.

Textile work this week!  Felting and silk painting.
